Saturday Round Up

The 1st XV moved back up to second in the WRU National Championship after a bonus point 29-13 win over a good Skewen outfit at Mount Pleasant Park yesterday.

The Green and Golds gave themselves plenty to do in the first quarter mind after falling 10-0 behind after some good attacking rugby by the visitors. But a well worked try for hooker Matthew Howells which was converted from the touchline by Hywel Chatham got Beddau back in the game before Skewen converted a second penalty to lead 13-6 at the break.

Beddau started the second period in better shape and after a series of pressure were awarded a penalty try which Chatham converted. The fly half was once again on target after Cody Baker crossed for a well worked try. Beddau were fighting till the end for that fourth try and they got it right at the death when Baker was on the end of another well worked try.

Full match report to follow.

The 2nd XV suffered their first defeat of the season as they were downed 17-9 at Senghenydd, whilst the Youth XV great start to the season continued with their second consecutive league win over Ynysybwl at Yorkdale.

The young Green and Golds chalked up a good 24-7 score line.

Our Friday nights darts team were also in impressive form as they beat Red Gate 5-2 at the Clubhouse. Cavan Phillips hit a maximum for the "Bowcats" as they kept their two-point lead at the top of the table.

Cwm Welfare AFC again scored three goals but conceded five as they were beaten at home by Brecon Corries in the Highadmit South Wales Alliance. Another thrilling game but the goals being conceded are costing them points dearly at the moment.

*Good luck to all our mini and junior "Bulldogs" who are in action this morning. Have a great day.
