Our History

Beddau RFC celebrated its 125th Anniversary in the 2021-22 season.

Formed as the Gelynog Rangers in 1897, the Club has also been known as Beddau United and Beddau & District RFC.

The Club has had several headquarters. The first HQ was based in the backroom of the Old Gelynog Hotel on Beddau sqaure. Other homes included the New Inn (now the Borwn Trout) and the Old Hut which was situated at the front of the current Clubhouse. Our current home was built in 1963 just a year after the Club recieved WRU status.

The Club went on to win several trophies and has a proud history of producing British Lions, Wales and regional players.

Today the Club runs teams for players from the age of six up to veterans.

A special book was written by Club Secretary Jamie Willis during the 125th Anniversary season detailing the Clubs history and is available to buy at the Club or by emailing winko@btinternet.com. Books are priced at just £15.
