Weekend Review

It wasn’t the best of Saturday’s for our senior teams but the Chuckles did bring some cheer to the Club on Sunday.

The 1st XV’s promotion push to the new Community Premiership were derailed slightly by Rumney at Mount Pleasant Park as a last play penalty earned the Cardiff Club a 28-27 success.

Rumney to their credit enjoyed the lead for the majority of the game but the Green and Golds thought they had claimed the win with a Cody Baker 78th minute penalty to take the lead for the first time at 27-25. But that last gasp penalty gave Rumney the win.

Beddau had scored three tries through Tyler Wells, Lewis James and Fin Baker with Baker kicking a total of twelve points but it wasn’t enough for a win although the losing bonus point was claimed.

Although a bitter pill to swallow there is still a possibility of promotion but they will have to earn wins at home to Cardiff Met and away at Rumney in their final two games.

The Youth XV were also agonisingly beaten by a single point in a Cardiff Rugby Championship clash at Mountain Ash.

Efan Jones, Ethan Forkin and Max Luke all got over the whitewash with Alfie Egan (2) and Jones adding conversions.

This was another entertaining fixture with the young green and golds battling to the end and arguably not getting the rewards their efforts deserved.

They can now look forward to a touring fixture at home to Haverfordwest on Wednesday evening at Mount Pleasant.

The Club and the Chuckles were fortunate to host Redcar in a friendly fixture in front of a good crowd on Sunday.

The tourists were in great spirits as they arrived a little late for kick off but played their part in an entertaining affair.

The Chuckles scored some really good team tries to claim the win but no doubt rugby and friendship was the winner as everybody headed back to a packed out clubhouse for a great afternoon and evening.

Will Reeves lead the way with a brace of tries, whilst there was also good scores for Chris Rees, Luke Bennett, Gethin Rogers, Jack Rowe and Ollie Thomas. Also getting on the scoresheets with conversions were Kallum Bundy, Julian Pursey and the impressive Reeves.
