1st XV End Season In The Rhondda

Our 1st XV will end their WRU National Championship league campaign tomorrow with a tough away day at fellow Mid District Club Ystrad Rhondda.

The Green and Golds will face a Rhondda Club that will be going all out to gain a win which will see them finish as runners up in the Championship. This will be a fantastic achievement, particularly as it is their first season at this level. Ystrad have won sixteen of their twenty one fixtures this term and one of them victories was a nail-biting 20-17 success at Mount Pleasant Park earlier in the season when a try by Ryan Howells at the death earned them the points. They have been a breath of fresh air to the Championship this season and will no doubt be a team for all the relegated Premiership sides to look out for next season.

Beddau though will also be keen to finish their season on a high and are currently on a five match unbeaten run in the league after impressive victories over Newcastle Emlyn, Newbridge, Rhydyfelin, Bedlinog and Tata Steel. These victories have pulled them away from what was almost certain the trap door to Division One rugby.

It has been a strange old season for the Green and Golds. It was a season that could have been with so many narrow and late losses, but Lee Jarvis’ young side will look to go out with a win tomorrow and re-group during the summer months and prepare for an exciting new campaign.

Kick-off at Gelligalad Park is 7.15pm.
