Our 1st XV will travel to Margam tomorrow for a big battle with Tata Steel in the WRU National Championship.

Both sides have had bad starts to the season by their standards and will be desperate to kick start their season with a win.

Tata have recorded just the one victory from their first five games which was an opening day demolition of Bedlinog by 67-29. They gave Pontypool a real fright at Pontypool Park a week later before just being pipped 8-3.Since then they have suffered three defeats against Trebanos (21-8), Cardiff Met (37-29) and Ystrad Rhondda (48-28). They stand a solitary point above Beddau in the table in ninth spot. A win for either side on Saturday could see them rise up to seventh in the ladder if other results help.

Beddau were hugely disappointed with last weeks controversial last gap defeat at home to Ystrad Rhondda but will be looking to go again and get a result that their efforts have deserved. Injuries have ravaged the squad over the last few weeks but there are returns to the squad this weekend for centre Lewis Egal, outside half Hywel Chatham and stalwart Glenn Slater. Greg Morgan returns to first team action after being out for almost two seasons with a knee injury, His dynamic style will surely be an asset to the squad for the rest of the season. There are also first competitive starts for new signings Ben Jones and Iwan Dawes, whilst youngsters Callum Deghenhart, another new signing, and Josh Thomas get call ups on to the bench.

Sam Tiley is ruled out with a hip injury after playing in midweek. Cody Baker will need rehab on a shoulder injury that forced him off last Saturday and both Carl Lewis and Jordan Goodwin both face sometime on the side lines after a hamstring and back injuries also forced them off in that loss against Ystrad.

Better news though for the Green and Golds is that Rhys Owens and Zac Byard are both training and are hoping to return to action in the next few weeks.

Kick-off is 2.30pm and the match referee is Mr Dylan Llyr Jones.
