Saturday Round Up

There were big bonus point wins for both the 1st XV and Chuckles on Saturday but the Youth fell just short in their away league game.

The 1st XV put on another good attacking display to run in eight tries to record their fourth successive Championship East win away at St Peters.

The attack minded hosts started the game with a bang opening the scoring with an unconverted try but this sprung the green and golds into life.

Full back Cody Baker was again in top form as he went on to grab a hat trick of tries whilst Cameron Ellis continued his good try scoring streak with a brace. James Davies, Ewan Roberts and skipper Lloyd Evans also got over the whitewash with Baker slotting six of the conversions to finish with a personal haul 27 points.

Credit must go to the Rocks who attacked at any opportunity and caused Beddau several problems.

As for Beddau, September ends undefeated and in top position in the Championship table. But head coach Lee Davies and his coaching team know they will need to continue to improve as the fixtures come fast again after this weekends break due to the team having a bye in the Championship Cup.

The Chuckles were also in good try scoring form as they ran in no fewer than six tries in an excellent 45-7 win over Bedwas at Mount Pleasant Park in a WRU Conference fixture.

Mitchell Davey, Owen Rix, Liam Powell ,Cian Evans, Callum Rendall and Travis Warhurst all crossed for a try each whilst Dan Rees had a good afternoon with the boot accumulating eleven points in total from four conversions and a penalty.

This was another good all round performance against good opposition. Attention now turns to a big top of the table clash with a hugely talented Abercynon outfit this Saturday at Mount Pleasant .

The Youth XV despite out scoring their hosts Old Penarthians four tries to three came away on the wrong end of a 31-24 score line in a Cardiff Rugby Premiership fixture.

Efan Jones, Jace Jones, Ben Thomas and George Coombs all crossed for good tries with Alfie Egan kicking two conversions but it wasn’t enough to take the points.

Despite the loss there were a great deal of positives for the young green and golds to take from this performance as they prepare for another away league game at Builth Wells this Saturday.
