Saturday Round Up

There was no first XV game over the weekend as they had a bye in the WRU Championship Cup but both the Chuckles and Youth were in action and put on good performances.

The Chuckles came out on top in the early season top of the table clash with a very good Abercynon outfit at Mount Pleasant Park.

Mitch Davey grabbed a brace of tries whilst Liam Powell, Sam Gibson and Lloyd Morris also crossed the whitewash for Beddau as they also grabbed the all important bonus point for tries. Shaun Bennett was successful with two good conversions.

Abercynon despite all their efforts only managed to break through Beddau once and that was early in the opening half as they suffered their first WRU Conference loss of the campaign by 29-7.

There were lots of positives again for this Beddau side with Ben Dummett showing his versatility by claiming the man of the match award out of position in the centre.

Next up is another Conference fixture at Barry this Saturday.

The Youth XV were left heartbroken as a late penalty denied them a victory at Builth Wells in a Cardiff Rugby Premiership fixture.

Despite tries from Max Luke and Rhod Chatterley and a penalty and conversion from Alfie Egan the hosts claimed the 16-15 win at the death.

Although there was disappointment with the defeat there was lots of good things in the performance that would have pleased the coaching team as they build up to another tough league fixture with Merthyr the visitors to Yorkdale on Saturday.

The 1st XV will also be back in action on Saturday as they look to keep hold of their 100% record against newly promoted Aberdare at Mount Pleasant Park.
