Saturday Round Up

Our 1st XV were beaten 53-7 at Mount Pleasant Park by a hugely impressive Bargoed outfit in a National Championship fixture yesterday.

The relegated Premiership outfit were well organised in both attack and defence and put in a hugely professional performance. Despite the heavy score line the Green and Golds can hold their heads up high as they continued to throw the ball about and try to break the visitors defence down until the death. A brace of late tries from Bargoed made the score line look a lot heavier in fact but credit must go to them and they will for sure fancy themselves to give Pontypool a run for their money for the league title this season.

Adam Ashford got the solitary Beddau try with Hywel Chatham kicking the conversion.

Full match report to follow.

Our 2nd XV made the trip down to Penarth in a late arranged friendly fixture after the scheduled league tie at Mountain Ash was postponed due to a waterlogged ground. Our young squad put in a very good performance and came out on top with a well deserved 38-19 success. More details to follow.

It was also a tough afternoon for the Youth XV as they lost out in a Blues Premiership fixture at Abercynon. The young Green and Golds were on the wrong end of a 20-9 scoreline.
