1sts Face Trebanos Trip As Howells Gets To 50

Our 1st XV will play their final game before Christmas tomorrow as they make the trip down West to take on Trebanos in another WRU Specsavers National Championship fixture.

Both Clubs will be going all out to get vital league points to bolster their current positions. The Green and Golds can put pressure on some mid-table Clubs and drag them into the relegation fight with a success whilst Trebanos know that a win could help them get out of the bottom four trap door places.

Beddau currently occupy ninth place winning a third of their nine games, whilst tomorrows hosts have a win and a draw from their opening nine fixtures. That victory came against Ystrad Rhondda (24-16) and the draw was a good 16-16 score line at Tata Steel. They have also picked up losing bonus points against Glamorgan Wanderers (10-12), Maesteg Quins (3-9) and Cardiff Met (17-24).

Honours were shared in the contests between the teams last season. Beddau took the spoils at Mount Pleasant Park earlier in the season by 22-13, but it was avenged by Trebanos in the return fixture where they claimed a tight yet entertaining 29-26 win. James Davies crossed for two good individual tries and Matthew Howells and Cody Baker also crossed the whitewash with Hywel Chatham kicking three conversions as the Green and Golds picked up two important bonus points in the latter of the games.

The Green and Golds know its going to be a tough afternoon again. The Swansea Valley Club always have a good pack of forwards and an adventurous back line.

We all look forward to the game and for sure our players, officials and supporters can look forward to one of the warmest of welcomes afterwards at the Clubhouse.

The coaching team make three changes from last weeks excellent win over Narberth. Lewis Egal who scored a try on his return in that fixture comes in at centre with Cameron Ellis also getting a start on the wing. Mason Morgan’s inclusion is the only change up front.

Matthew Howells will become the latest player to make 50 1st XV competitive appearances for the Green and Golds when he appears from the bench.

Kick-off is 2.30pm and match referee is Mr Brian Powell.
