Treble Success For Green and Golds

There was plenty of cheer in the Clubhouse over the weekend as all three senior sides claimed good wins.

The 1st XV played their first competitive fixture of the season and came out on top by 19-10 in a tough encounter against Glamorgan Wanderers.

Skipper Jordan Goodwin claimed the first try of the afternoon with Ethan Coombes also getting a touchdown before half. Mitch Jones kicked both conversions to put the Green and Golds 14-0 up at the interval. The Wanderers hit back with a try after the break before James Davies grabbed a good score to regain Beddau's 14 point cushion. Our Ely visitors grabbed another try but Beddau held out to gain a very important win, the first opening day win for several seasons in the National Championship.

The 2nd XV were also involved in their first game of the season and were hugely impressive in a 64-5 away win at Kenfig Hill. Iwan Roberts lead the way with a hat-trick of tries whilst there were good braces for Owain Cotter, Harri Bryant and Callum Jones. Ashley Adams also scored a fine try. Cotter was also on form with the boot kicking five conversions with Adams and Roberts also slotting a conversion each.

The Youth XV put on another impressive display on Friday night as they returned from Llanharan with a 42-12 friendly win.
Jack Rowe crossed for two tries whilst there was good individual scores for Harry Abercrombie, Jack Southcott, Noah Davey, Harry Dickson and man of the match Rowan Jones. Harley Williams had a good evening with the boot kicking four conversions.

Congratulations to everyone involved over the weekend . Hopefully all the sides can build on this success next weekend as they all face further tough fixtures.
