Champion Club’s History Chronicled In Anniversary Book

Beddau Rugby Football Club is celebrating 125 years of community rugby with the publication of a full-scale history of the glories and triumphs.
The anniversary book is being released in spring 2021 and tells the impressive story of how Beddau RFC grew from a pub side to fly the flag of community sport with distinction for 125 glorious years.

During that time they have scaled the peaks of rugby history, claimed an enviable amount of silverware and produced some truly world-famous Welsh players.

Author Jamie Willis, a former club secretary and long-time player for the Beddau side has spent over a year painstakingly researching its remarkable history.

“This is a tribute to a club that has flourished throughout the decades in an ever-changing world,” he said.

“As one of the few constants in the village, the role Beddau RFC has played within its own community is unfathomable.”

“Not only has it trained and produced scores of exceptional players and teams, bringing glory to the proud villages it represents.

“It has also played a pivotal role as a centre for the community, offering a range of facilities, festivities, events and activities for all ages to enjoy.”

This is the story of a close-knit village rugby club and explores its triumphs and tragedies.

Filled with photographs, memorabilia, match reports, and messages from the plethora of British Lions and Welsh Internationals it has produced, this publication testifies to the long and proud history of a champion club.
