Saturday Round Up : 2nds Leave It Late / Youth Battle Gallantly

There were mixed fortunes for our teams on Saturday as the 2nds picked up a last gasp victory at a very good Brecon side and the Youth were beaten in the derby day clash at Llantwit Fardre.

The 2nd team scored three tries in the 23-16 win in mid-Wales. Grant Smith crossed the line twice and Christian Bird also got a vital score. Rhys Lott slotted two penalties and a conversion.

This was a good start  in the opening Mid District league game for the green and golds against a team who will certainly be at the top end of the final standings.

The coaches were particulalry pleased with the never say die attitude of the boys and they will be looking for more of the same this wekeend as they host Mountain Ash at Mount Pleasant Park in another league fixture.

The Youth XV put on a spirited performance in the local derby at Llantwit Fardre. The young side gave their all against a very good Blues outfit and were only trailing 17-7 at the interval. But the hosts pulled away in the second half to claim a 44-14 win.

Cameron Evans and Harri Jones got Beddau's tries with Owen Rix kicking two conversions.

Despite the reverse once again there were many positives to take from the performance as the team keeps developing.

Next up for the Youth is a home fixture against Rhydyfelin this Saturday at Yorkdale in another Cardiff Rugby Cup fixture.

There was no 1st XV game on the weekend but they will return to action on Saturday with a Championship Cup fixture at Ystrad Rhondda.

A huge well done to all our mini and junior teams who played on Sunday. Once again they did the Club proud and played their games in the right spirit.
