It was another great Saturday afternoon of rugby for the Club as both the 1st and 2nd teams recorded league wins which keeps their unbeaten start to the season alive.
The 1st XV kept their position at the top of the WRU Championship East table with a tight 29-21 win over a hard working Penallta outfit at Mount Pleasant Park. A clever try from scrum half Taine Davies plus a brilliant individual second half score from Cody Baker along with a nineteen point haul from Callaghan Smith, who was playing out of position at outside half, gave the Green and Golds the points. The visitors caused several problems throughout the afternoon and just wouldn’t let Beddau get too far ahead at any point during an intense game. The victory gives Beddau a five point gap at the top from second placed Bedwas. They will be hoping to keep that lead intact when they travel to Treorchy this weekend. The Chuckles continued their wonderful start to the campaign with a big 52-0 win over second place CR Rygby Caerdydd at Yorkdale. Christian Bird impressed with a hat-trick of tries whilst Noah Davey enjoyed a good afternoon with two tries. Skipper Peter Isaac, Caelum Cox and Luke Jones also crossed for good tries with Shaun Bennett having a successful day with the boot slotting six conversions. This win takes Beddau into a massive sixteen point lead at the top of the WRU Conference East table. They make the trip to Mountain Ash this Saturday who moved into second place last weekend after a derby day win at Abercynon last Friday. There was no Youth team fixture this weekend as they had a bye in the WRU Cup competitions. They are hoping to arrange a fixture for this weekend.
