Our 1^st XV have a hugely important WRU Specsavers National Championship fixture at Maesteg Harlequins on the weekend as they look to fight themselves out of the relegation places.

They take on a Quins outfit who have had a very good first half of the season and lie in eighth spot in the ladder having won seven of their first fifteen games. There were hugely impressive wins away at Neath (31-13) and Glamorgan Wanderers (18-16) with other important results coming against Tata Steel (47-16), Ystrad Rhondda (23-20), Trebanos (9-3), Ystalyfera (16-12) and Cross Keys (23-13). The Llynfi Valley outfit have a big ten-point cushion over Beddau having played a game more.

The Green and Golds come out on top by 27-12 at Mount Pleasant Park in the early season fixture thanks to tries from Luke Studley, Ben Lee and Morgan Burgess plus two penalties and three conversions from the ever reliable Hywel Chatham. It was a tight game with the Quins showing their power up front in the early stages and Beddau exerting some good second half pressure.

Bedddau would certainly be happy with a similar result this weekend but know the Quins on their own patch are a hard outfit to beat.

Coaches Matthew Rees, Tom Slater and Ben White have made three changes from last weekends 45-24 defeat to Cardiff Met, a game where Beddau showed glimpses of a return to form. All the changes are in the back line. Dai Francis and Morgan Davies return at half back whilst Morgan Price returns to the team after missing last weeks game against the Students.

Whatever the result on Saturday, we know that we will again receive a great welcome from the Quins and their supporters back at their Clubhouse. They are a fantastic proper old school rugby Club and it is always a pleasure for our Club to cross swords with them.
