Green & Gold Fall Under The Spell Of Wands

One sparkling try apart, this was a largely unremarkable match.

Wanderers had more of the game in the first half where their lively backs looked capable of creating opportunities.  Beddau defended well and, if the lineout was little short of a disaster zone the scrum held up well too.

An early Paul Short penalty had given Wanderers the lead but the same player hooked his next effort when Beddau were offside.  A period where Beddau applied a little pressure earned a kick well within Hywel Chatham`s normal compass but the outside half failed on this occasion.

Two further penalties to the home side saw one missed but the other goaled by Paul Short and it was 6-0 at halftime.

Beddau opened with a little more energy after the interval and Hywel Chatham`s penalty for offside made it 6-3.

From a scrum between halfway and the 22 Wanderers right wing Will Adams Jones had taken up a position a bus ride ahead of play.  Mr Edwards hadn`t spotted that but Paul Short had and he flighted his kick beautifully for the wing to run in unopposed with Short making the conversion.

Paul Short added 3 more points when Beddau were offside and suddenly, out of a gloomy afternoon, Wanderers outside half Jake Beetham made a quick break and linked with Cameron Gibbon to sweep through.  Both Callum Wheeler and Adam Ashford made tackles but the offloading was quick and accurate.  Hooker Aaron Fowler took the final pass to complete an excellent score that Paul Short converted.

Beddau finished strongly but despite conceding a flurry of penalties Wanderers could not be breached and were deserved winners in a game where Beddau were underwhelming.
