Weekend Review

There was no 1st XV, 2nd XV or Youth XV rugby on Saturday due to the Six Nations but our mini and junior “Bulldogs” certainly put on a good show yesterday once again playing some outstanding rugby and again in the right spirits. A special mention must go out to our under 14s who drew their Blues Cup quarter final tie at Abercynon but went out on the rule that the home side scored more tries. This was a good display and perhaps they deserved more but they must once again take huge credit for their effort and commitment.

On Friday night our table topping Darts team extended their lead at the top of the Pontyclun & District Darts league to five points after a 5-2 win at Red Gate and their nearest rivals Ogmore A were surprisingly out gunned at home 6-1 by Coed Ely.

Lenny’s Lions will now look forward to a big derby clash with Cwm Welfare at the Clubhouse this coming Friday.

In football, Cwm Welfare suffered a heavy 7-1 loss away to league leaders STM Sports on the weekend but still remain in fourteenth place in the table and just two points adrift of the safety spots. They will look to bounce back this weekend when Penrhiwceiber Rangers visit Mount Pleasant Park.

A big thank you once again to all the support of our members for another great weekend. There was an excellent atmosphere for the game and throughout the weekend.
