2nds Start Pre-Season With A Bang

Our 2nd XV started their pre season in a highly impressive way last night with a 64-17 win away at never say die local neighbours Llantwit Fardre.

Glenn Williams led out the Green and Golds at Central Park in the absence of Luke Davies and his team went on to score ten excellent tries. Luke Jones and Gareth Hopkins both crossed for hat-tricks, whilst there was good individual scores for Callum Wheeler, Darren Bundy, Cameron Ellis and Christian Bird. Bundy slotted six conversions whilst Wheeler also chipped in with two points.

A huge amount of credit must go to Llantwit though who kept playing through out the eighty minutes and their young squad are sure to further develop this season and be pushing for honours in the Mid District Conference.

The Clubs Rugby Operations Manager Mal Davies was very happy after the game saying "This was a great first work out for the boys. There was a real high intensity and commitment from both teams out there. This was a real worthwhile exercise and we can now look forward to the next challenge of Senghenydd on the weekend".

Coach Ben West had a happy headache of having to utilise 29 players during the game and it was good to see four final year youth players also getting their first few minutes of senior rugby.

A big thanks to Llantwit Fardre for accommodating us in the fixture and we wish them every success for the new season.
