The Team Behind The Team - Brett Taylor

There are only a handful of people at every Club who can say they have dedicated their life to their home rugby Club. We are lucky to have several, but not many can put their hands up and say they have given as much time as Brett Taylor has.

Brett has been associated with the Club for almost four decades. He was firstly a mini and junior player before he moved into Youth rugby as a combative hooker. He then made the next step into senior rugby where he made many appearances for the 1st XV before captaining the 2nd XV where he helped oversee many years of trophies and success. After a good playing career he continued to help with the 2nd team and managed to help nurture many players into the first team. He was eventually persuaded to take the position as team manager for the first team and he was part of the successful teams that won promotion through the National leagues. During the late 90’s early 2000’s Brett was also vice-Chairman of the Club.

After he stood down from the day to day rugby side of things, he took on the position of sponsorship manager and ticketing officer at the Club and he has done this role now for well over ten years. Brett has helped bring in tens of thousands of pounds of sponsorship to the Club over this period. Quite simply the Club could not have run without this investment and he deserves all the plaudits for making this happen. Throughout November he will be extremely busy sorting tickets out and chasing payments out for the Autumn Internationals and once that is finished he has a further headache of starting to distribute the much sort after Six Nations tickets. It’s a hugely time consuming and stressful job.

On match days Brett will be busy looking after match sponsors and ensuring they are happy whilst others are enjoying their own after match hospitality. He is a big cog in the Clubs engine, an experienced guy who the Club committee always turn to for advice.

Brett is part of a rugby family dynasty at the Club. His Dad Frankie was the first ever Youth team captain and was one of a large group who really put the Club on the map. Now it’s Brett’s son Jayden who is starting off his Beddau career and the early signs are that he too is going to have a promising future. Brett has always taken a keen interest in the mini and junior section and with Jayden’s participation he spends as much time supporting them as possible.

Brett has also done a massive amount of work with local charities in association with the Club. He has always played a pivotal part in the Charity Bike ride with his best friend the late Lee Caddy. Whenever there is an event at the Club, Brett is the go to man and he will help anyone he can.

He has also sponsored many teams and individuals over his time at the Club.

Every Club needs special people behind the scenes and we are lucky to have Brett on board with us. We are extremely grateful to everything he does for the Club.
