Green & Gold Face Tough Test From Students

Our 1st XV face their last National Championship fixture before the Six Nations kicks off tomorrow when high flying Cardiff Met visit Mount Pleasant Park.

The Students are yet again enjoying life in both the Championship and the BUCS (University League). They currently occupy second spot in the Championship winning eleven of their sixteen outings this season so far. They have been in outstanding form in their last two league games amassing eighty eight points and conceding just nineteen. One of them wins was a 48-5 win over a Ystrad Rhondda side who they were battling with for second spot in the table.

They claimed a bonus point win over a patched up Beddau at Cyncoed earlier in the season. Late tries that afternoon gave the Archers a 38-5 final score which may have slightly flattered the hosts.

They will be visiting a Beddau outfit who are now emerging from their injury crisis. Rhys Owens and Glenn Slater are the latest players to return from injury and be recalled to a Green and Gold outfit who were just pipped by a good Trebanos side last weekend.

There are four changes from that defeat. Matthew Howells and Ben Stephens pack down in the front row with Owens locking them. Alex Varney will make his first appearance on the wing.

It’s been a good week of training for Beddau. They will be hoping now to take that into the game and give their visitors a tough afternoon.

Kick off is 2.30pm and match referee is Mr Stefan Edwards.
