Mr David Llewellyn

It is with deep sadness that the Club has received the news of the passing of David "Dazzler" Llewellyn. Dai was a huge stalwart of the Club and played a huge part in the Club as Treasurer during the 1990's. He lead the Club through arguably one of their most succesful periods of rugby which acummulated in almost being promoted to the Welsh Premiership.

Lynn West who was Chairman with Dai, gives the below tribute -

There are unseen areas of the Club where people work in the shadows.  A great deal of that work is necessary and allows the Club its time in the light.  If anyone inhabited, equally, the shadows and the light it was David Llewellyn, Dai Dazzler.

Some years ago Dai let some of us know that a growth had been discovered in a lung and that the prognosis wasn`t good.  His concerns were that the club accounts were in a strong enough position to ride out any stormy weather and there were some bodies who gave their time to assisting in that.

A lung was removed, cigarettes were given the heave-ho and, happily Dai was able to fulfil his golfing role as course bandit for another 15 years.  More importantly, as far as the Club is concerned, he was able to steer the vessel through the extremely troubled waters that the failure to achieve the mythical criteria that allowed the WRU to deny the playing results earned promotions to us and to Bonymaen stirred.

There were times when insolvency stared us in the face.  There were people whom, with the right amount of cajoling, would hold back demands and those too, who, with no publicity, would even provide some much-needed funds.  It required someone of character to bring these elements together and Dazzler was very definitely the man to do that.

Above all, David Llewellyn is a family man who has gone to great lengths to spread the love and warmth to many quarters.  His devotion to his Czech grand-daughter and the air miles earned by a New York based dog are just some of the qualities that will be missed by those whose lives Dazzler has constantly touched.

He is one of the Club`s giants and will be sadly missed.

The Club sends their deepest condolonces to Dai's family and friends at this sad time.

Funeral details will be posted in due course.
