Hat-trick Of Wins

It was another 100% success for our rugby teams in the Club yesterday.

The 1st XV showed incredible spirit and determination to come back from 16-3 down to snatch a 29-24 win at Newbridge.

Glen Slater crossed twice for the Green and Golds with Leon Rogers and a last gasp effort from Joe Casella grabbing the win and the bonus point. Hywel Chatham slotted three conversions and a penalty to end the losing curse of the Welfare ground.

Beddau are now level on points with Pontypool at the top of the table who are the only other Club not to have suffered a loss in the opening two games.

Full match report to follow.

The 2nd XV kept up their 100% start to the season with another bonus point league win over Mountain Ash at Mount Pleasant Park.

There were hat-tricks for Tyler Wells and Lloyd Peart with Luke Davies also getting over the line. Tom Benjamin had a good afternoon with the boot kicking five conversions in the 43-23 victory.

The Youth recorded an outstanding 19-15 win over Caerphilly at Yorkdale. The visitors have been one of the strongest sides in the Dragons region in recent seasons and provided a stern test for the young Green and Golds before the league season kicks off at Treorchy next weekend.

*Cwm Welfare AFC played their part in an absolute cracker of a game at Mount Pleasant yesterday but came out on the wrong end of a 6-4 score line against Sully Sports. Lewis Harries and Rhys Williams scored two goals each but it wasn't enough to gain the win over the league leaders.
