Mr Illtyd Hughes

It is with incredible sadness that the Club has received the news of the passing of Mr Illtyd Hughes.

Illtyd was a life member of the Club and and a fantastic stalwart.

Lynn West pays tribute to the wonderful man.

On Saturday morning we woke to the news that Illtyd has passed.  That can`t be true.  As long as there has been a Club there has been Illtyd.  You would walk through the door, rain, wind or shine and look to the corner over your left shoulder.  If Illtyd was in place the day could go on.  Illtyd was always in place; the day could always go on.  He was, for a long time, the rub-a-dub man, he wouldn`t have gone for ‘physio’ and the players who received his counsel, for he liked to be a shoulder for all ills, will never forget.  He was a wise and caring man.  It seems such a short while ago that he lost his lovely daughter Michelle to the awful Cystic Fibrosis and that is a pain he should not have had to endure.  Endure it he did with no bitterness.  The Club has lost an anchor and acquired another space in its ranks that will be impossible to fill.

Everybody at the Club will miss Illtyd deeply and we send out our deepest condolonces to all of his family and many, many friends at this very sad time.

The Club will post funeral details in due course.
